Pay Per Click is an advertising technique used on search engines. On Google, for example, pay per click website advertisements are usually placed as sponsored results, down the right hand side of the search results page; when a searcher clicks on the advertisement, the advertiser is charged a small amount. On most search engines, your ranking is decided by how much you bid for each click. This is usually keyword-based - you choose the keywords that are most relevant to your business and bid for the right to be top of the list when that keyword is searched for. Pay Per Click campaigns are an excellent way to drive traffic to your site, and can be used in conjunction with natural search engine optimisation to create a long-term website traffic project.
